Using material cycles

In nature, there is no waste. Fallen leaves produce humus, which serves as nourishment for the various organisms in the ground. Grass is eaten by animals such as sheep and cows. Their excrement serves as food for insects and micro-organisms. In a more naturally managed green area, everything is connected, less biomass needs to be removed and less fertiliser is needed than in carefully manicured hedges and lawns.
